RTÜK’s Eye on YouTube: Get Ready for Oversight!
RTÜK is gearing up to closely monitor broadcasts on the digital giant YouTube. A new regulation is in the works to subject social media broadcasts to RTÜK oversight.
The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) had previously brought platforms like Netflix, BluTV, and Disney Plus under its scrutiny. Now it’s YouTube’s turn! Content on these platforms won’t see the light of day without RTÜK’s approval.
With RTÜK’s oversight, the quality of content on YouTube and other social media platforms is set to improve, providing viewers with a safer environment. Content that doesn’t comply with RTÜK’s regulations will be promptly removed.
In a statement from RTÜK, it was emphasized how severe remarks made about a prominent referee had sparked significant outrage on social media. RTÜK is in ongoing discussions with YouTube to prevent such incidents. It’s expected that in the near future, social media platforms will fall under RTÜK’s purview.
