YouTube Launches Exclusive Shorts Feature for Channel Members
YouTube, the video sharing and social media platform, is introducing an exclusive version of its short video format Shorts, available only to channel members. Content creators will be able to share Shorts content exclusively with their paying subscribers.
According to YouTube’s announcement, content creators will be able to take advantage of the new feature for special announcements, product discounts, limited-time offers, Q&A sessions, behind-the-scenes footage, or announcements of future content.
To share exclusive Shorts content with their members, content creators will need to select the “members only” option from the visibility options after uploading. Timing can also be set to allow channel members to access the content before anyone else. Additionally, existing content can be set to exclusive for members.
Exclusive Shorts content for members will appear in the Shorts tab, Subscription feed, and on channels. The content’s exclusivity will be indicated by a star icon.
In its announcement, YouTube revealed that Shorts’ daily average views exceed 70 billion and that over 25% of channels in the YouTube Partner Program earn revenue from videos through Shorts revenue sharing.
