YouTube Extends Short Video Duration: YouTube Shorts to Get Longer!

YouTube is making significant updates to its popular short video platform, Shorts. Among the most requested features by users, the duration of Shorts videos is being extended to three minutes. This new update will come into effect on October 15.

The move, seen as part of YouTube’s effort to compete with TikTok’s longer video options, is aimed at making the platform’s short video format more engaging. By allowing longer videos, YouTube aims to attract more creators and viewers, giving them more flexibility to express themselves.

In addition to longer videos, YouTube has also introduced a new template feature that allows creators to make videos faster and easier by using trending sounds. This feature is similar to TikTok’s functionalities, enabling users to quickly create content inspired by existing videos.

These updates are seen as a critical step in making YouTube even more appealing. YouTube has also considered that some users prefer longer-form content. With the new “Show Less Shorts” option, users can see fewer short videos on their homepage, allowing for a better balance of content variety.
