Google to Remove the Additional Search Box from Search Results

Google has decided to remove the additional search box from its search results, reflecting the evolving search habits of users.

The tech giant announced that it would eliminate the “sitelinks search box” feature, which had been present in search results for over a decade. This small search box would appear under a specific website in Google’s search results, allowing users to search within that particular site without navigating to it directly.

The feature gave users the convenience of searching a website’s content directly from the search results. However, due to its declining usage, Google has decided to discontinue the sitelinks search box starting from November 21, 2024.

According to Google, this change aims to simplify search results. Given the decreasing frequency with which users utilized this feature, the decision doesn’t come as a surprise.

The decreasing usage of the sitelinks search box indicates a shift in how internet users conduct searches. Many may now prefer going directly to websites or using alternative methods of searching. This adaptation is part of Google’s ongoing effort to meet user needs and stay in tune with technological changes. The evolution of the search engine is crucial in maintaining its competitive edge.

Website owners may need to consider how this change could impact their visibility in search results. The removal of this feature might lead to reduced traffic for certain sites, raising concerns for those dependent on this functionality.
