YouTube Premium’s Price Hike: Are the Benefits Really Worth It?

YouTube Premium’s Price Hike: Are the Benefits Really Worth It?

Just as we were catching our breath from last year’s surge in streaming costs, YouTube Premium has hit us with yet another price hike! And this time, it’s a noticeable one for users in Turkey.

With YouTube’s recent campaign against ad blockers, many users have found themselves nudged toward Premium subscriptions. And now, as demand surges, YouTube has decided it’s the perfect time for a fresh wave of price adjustments. Let’s break down the new prices and see what’s really changing.

What’s Changed?

Here’s how the new pricing stacks up:

  • Student Plan: Up from 37.99 TL to 52.99 TL.
  • Individual Premium: Was 57.99 TL, now 79.99 TL.
  • Family Plan: The biggest jump, going from 115.99 TL to a substantial 159.99 TL for up to five members.

What Are You Paying For?

YouTube Premium still promises an ad-free experience, offline downloads, audio-only playback (great for background listening!), and even co-watching with friends on Google Meet. For some, these features might be worth the price – no ads, more flexibility, and uninterrupted content access.

But are these perks really enough to justify the rising costs?

Is Premium Still a Good Deal?

The core appeal of YouTube Premium has always been its ability to cut through the noise—no ads, no interruptions, just pure content. With added perks like offline access, it’s a dream for those who rely on YouTube for entertainment, learning, or music. Yet with prices inching closer to those of larger streaming services, users might start wondering if the Premium experience is worth the splurge.

For students, the price is still somewhat competitive, but families might feel the sting. So, as YouTube Premium’s perks remain strong, the question stands: Are these benefits still enough to make you tap “Subscribe,” or will the price push users back to free, ad-supported viewing?

What do you think?
